I'm upgrading my rig with an i7 processor, DDR3 2000, and a solid state harddrive. If got $350 for the board in the budget. What should I get?

Currently looking at the ASUS P6TD Deluxe LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail. There is a version2 of the board but I cannot see any difference between that and this one other than BIOS versions.

Thanks in advance.

I've read some great reviews on the new AsRock x58 series Mobos ..  I'm an AMD man so they mean little to me at this time but if your going with an i7 then I'd take the time to check them out.   If I remember correctly 1 of them has 6 mem slots for tri-channel up to 48 GB capacity.

i have that asus board and i love it. There are 3 of us in this clan that use that same board and its really really nice. CMOS/Bios is mad easy to use too for OC and other things.

Thanks for the suggestions guys but I had already pulled the trigger and ordered the ASUS P6X58D Premium. It has the six memory slots plus USB 3.0, 6Gb SATA. It looks to be upgrade proof for the next couple of years with support for the i9 when it comes out.

I'll have dual monitor eyefinity setup this weekend running with the Sapphire 5870. I've got a 25.5" main monitor running 1920x1200 and a 22" left side monitor running 1650x1050. I'll have to run them both at 1650x1050 until the 10.3 Catalyst driver comes out this month then I can run the different resolutions. Next month I'll get another 22" with a displyport and run all three. I'll keep posting details if anyone is interested in following the build.

My present rig runs an EVGA mobo and cards.  Not thrilled about the mobo, already had to rma the mobo when i first got it.  On the other hand their tech support and warranty coverage was excellent and professional.

I had a solid ASUS mobo in my last rig, but after several years of faithful service the south bridge burned up, it was upon closer inspection that i found the south bridge heatsink fan had fallen off the board but had landed on the second sli card which was positioned right there, so nothing looked out of place.

Anywho, here's a list of companies that I won't use again...
Maxtor
Seagate (...Maxtor)
ATI (Yes, I've owned a few of these cards before...)
Linksys
PNY
Patriot
Diamond

Companies I will use...
ASUS
MSI
Leaktek
EVGA
AMD
Intel
Logitech
Western Digital
Netgear
Vizio
Viewsonic

What EVGA mobo do you have that you had to RMA?

nForce 790i Ultra SLI

It's one of the older ones that first came out and didn't have much plug n play capability, infact only two types of 2000 mhz ram were certified for the board when it first hit the shelves.  Instead it has a very through bios, and is mainly made of overclocking.
